GENERALITY

In order for it to work, each hydraulic accumulator must have inside the bag or membrane or part of the cylinder in the accumulators with piston inflated to a pressure determined by the formulas performed for the various applications. The inflation pressure must be determined in order to avoid the complete discharge of the accumulator during the work cycle. generally this is set at 90% of the minimum operating pressure and in no case less than 1/5 of the maximum circuit pressure. Commercial hydraulic nitrogen is used in all hydraulic accumulators for their pre-charge. Why use nitrogen: Nitrogen is an inert non-flammable gas with a good sealing capacity on the gaskets and therefore a good duration of the preload. Low cost. Can other inert gases be used? in theory yes, but they have the drawback of a poor duration of the preload value.

In hydraulic accumulators, the change in temperature that occurs in the system is a factor to be taken into account for the duration of the accumulator itself and its operation. if the system is subjected to a temperature variation, it is necessary to take it into account for the correct calculation of the preload. In the calculations there is the value P1 which corresponds to the value maximum precharge pressure at maximum working temperature. It is therefore necessary to make a change in the inflation pressure according to the temperature at which the pre-charge is carried out. Generally the inflation temperature at 20 ° is considered, the pre-charge pressure P0 at 20 ° C will be P0 = 0.9 P1 x 273 + 20 = 293/273 + Maximum working temperature
